Auchinleck pupils go pink for cancer charity day
9 DecemberPink was the colour of the day in school recently, as Auchinleck Academy pupils and teachers pulled out all the stops for charity.
Senior pupils organised a very successful ‘Wear It Pink’ day to raise money for Breast Cancer Research. Young people and staff took part in a sponsored dance, while some brave male teachers and seniors got their legs publicly waxed and senior pupils wore fancy dress.
To add to the fun, youngsters enjoyed face painting and bright pink cakes were on sale – making for a very colourful day.
Councillor Jim Roberts, Spokesperson for Lifelong Learning, said: “Thanks to the efforts of all at Auchinleck Academy, a grand total of £971 was raised for this very worthwhile cause. Well done to the senior pupils for working as a team to organise this event and making such a valuable contribution”.
